The history of Pack River Knives

Knifemaker Steve Mullin created the Pack River Knife Company over twenty years ago.  His vision was to produce a line of affordable knives that would be within reach of the majority of knife users.  He later went on to become a recognized and respected maker of high-end custom knives.

I met Steve in the fall of 2003 while searching for a knifemaking teacher.  Over the next year, he graciously shared with me his knowledge, his time, his humor, and his shop.  I was hooked.  I spent one day a week in his shop and any free time at home practicing what Steve was teaching me.  In 2004, after more than two decades of creating true works of knifemaking art, Steve decided to retire.  He offered me the chance to continue the Pack River Knife Company.  It was a surprise, to say the least.  I enthusiastically and humbly accepted his offer.

Soon after Steve's retirement, my wife and I sold our house in town and moved out into the woods.  I built a new shop and have been spending my time making sure that my knives are ready to live up to Steve's expectations of a Pack River Knife.

I proudly announce that in 2006, the Pack River Knives is once again officially open for business.  You have my assurance that you will be pleased with both the craftsmanship and value of a Pack River knife.

Please check back from time to time as I will be adding additional models and pictures to the site.

Be well,

Mark Roe
